Property Tax Is Extortion By Your Government


I went to a public hearing the other day about a raise in property taxes, this time by the county instead of the state or city. I had about ten minutes worth of facts and figures to read, but I was required to speak what I wanted to say in only three minutes. This was impossible, and I was enraged that free speech and the redress of grievances to our tyrannical government has been reduced to a circus show where the council would only allow my free speech in three minute segments. That is no longer free speech, but rather a privilege granted by the ruling class to the peasantry.

I just wanted to share with you the opener to my speech, since this seems the only truly free forum in which I can speak!

It went like this:

First, I’d just like to say thank you to the board in keeping the constitutional rights of public assembly and the freedom of speech alive in maintaining these types of public hearings. I keep hope that this right is never taken away from the people in what will always remain a representative government. To that end… you who sit on this panel are the representatives of the people, and simply defined that means that the peoples will is paramount to yours.

Now, I’d like talk about taxes. Specifically in this case… property taxes.

I wonder if anyone can tell me the difference between property taxes and rent?

If I rent an apartment, I have to pay a tax – which is called rent – to stay in that apartment.

Likewise, if I live on my own land, in my own house, I also have to pay rent – which is called a tax – a property tax – to stay on that land and in that house.

So is there any difference between rent and property tax?

Well, as far as I can tell, no there is not.

Let’s qualify this…

If I cease to pay my rent to my landlord for his apartment, the consequences of that action are for the landlord to evict me, with the city and state government’s support, of course. This I understand, for it is not my property for which I am living.

But what about my own land and home… the land that my ancestors might have settled over 200 years ago before a property tax scam was even imagined… heck, before Salt Lake City was even imagined? The home that I might own outright, having paid all debt owed for that land and home? What if I cease to pay my rent (in the form of property taxes) to my landlord (who is the government)? What will happen?

Well, as far as I know, the government will just evict me from my own home who I am the landlord of.

So is this a tax, or is it rent.

Lets go even further and call it for what it really is… extortion. Plain and simple.

For through eminent domain, you can take my property anytime you want. Just like a landlord can sell his property and kick you out of your apartment, anytime he likes.

If you homeowners out there don’t agree with me on this, then I invite you to stop paying your property tax… your “rent” to the government, and see what happens…

A legal tax on the citizenry must be apportioned. But it should also be avoidable. If I don’t want to pay the gas tax, I can choose not to drive. If I don’t want to pay the sales tax, I can barter, trade, or grow my own food (as long as the government with all of their codes allows me to do this).

But, as a homeowner, I cannot avoid this tax, unless I want to move and pay rent to someone else. I must pay it or loose my home. Kinda reminds me of protection money, gangland style… The American dream of owning a home is nothing more than glorified rent, with a false sense of security through “limited” ownership, and the stature attached to that dream.

So who regulates the mafia, when they decide to raise the protection money rates, or the government from raising the rent in the form of property taxes?

This is one I wish I had an answer to, though I don’t.

But if every citizen who shows up to this hearing today has a negative response to this “rent through tax” increase, then the logical conclusion to this hearing is that this increase on an already burdensome tax fund should not be allowed. This would be an example of that representative government I was talking about earlier. Meaning that you, as representatives of the people of your county have been made perfectly aware and clear that this tax increase is unacceptable to the overwhelming majority of the people that you supposedly represent and who responded to this announcement and hearing. Therefore the outcome of this hearing should also be clear, which is a resounding NO NEW TAXES!

Now I can only assume, that if you, as a representative public panel, approve this new unavoidable tax increase, that would mean that you are in fact not representing your constitutes; the people who elected you, and are in fact representing someone, or something else.

I have other pertinent documentation that clearly shows that the money to pay for these improvements and initiatives is quite available through other government means. However, I would ask that someone else in the honorable constituents waiting to speak whom also opposes this increase, to allow me their time to speak on behalf of the citizenry. For I assure you, this is the most important of information. Anyone…?

This is dedicated to the Salt Lake County Council, who is no doubt complicit in the theft and wealth building from its starving taxpayer base, for cutting me off and threatening police interaction if anyone spoke out of line. May you rot in Hell for the ruin you have brought unto this city and collectively through all other governments, this country.

They voted in favor of the tax increase, by the way.

  1. Why can’t a man own absolutely his property?

    Perhaps it is because of his PRESUMED “status” in relation to others in the community.

    STATUS. Standing, state or condition. The legal relation of individual to rest of the community. The rights, duties, capacities and IN-CAPACITIES which DETERMINE a person to a given class. A legal personal relationship, NOT TEMPORARY in its nature NOR TERMINABLE at the mere will of the parties, with which third persons AND THE STATE are concerned. While the term implies relation it is NOT MERE RELATION. It ALSO means ESTATE, because it SIGNIFIES the condition or circumstances in which one STANDS WITH REGARD TO HIS PROPERTY. Black’s Law Dictionary, 4th edition

    All men are born equally free and independent in one of the several states of the Perpetual Union and all men are to be presumed sui juris with all the rights of a freeman upon reaching full age or the age of majority. However, all men appear to be presumed by “the powers that be” to be “persons” born in the United States and subject to “its” (Congress’)jurisdiction.

    A man who is a “subject” of the United States federal government cannot also be a “free” man and own land in one of the several free and independent states. Such subjects may only reside in the states and hold an estate in land less than title. In short they have a “conditional” ownership of their property because of the “condition” in which they “stand” or are “presumed” to stand in relation to their property.

    If you look at your deed you will see that you are described therein as a “tenant” or “tenants in common.” And YOU voluntarily recorded that deed in the county office of the Recorder of Deeds and became the “owner of record” who is the “taxpayer” subject to the ad valorem property tax.

    An ad valorem tax is a tax on the value of the thing subject to the tax. How did your land become subject to this tax and you become the taxpayer? Is the land itself the thing subject to the tax OR is it your “estate” or “interest” less than title in the “real estate” that is being taxed? Does recording your deed makes you the taxpayer on the date the tax is assessed and your “estate” or interest less that title in that land the “thing” subject to the tax?

    Not actually paying for the land by using Fed Notes instead of gold or silver coin and thus only discharging the debt could also affect the your status and that of your property?

    A presumption that a man was born in the United States and subject to the jurisdiction thereof can be disputed if it is incorrect. If all men are born equally free and independent in one of the several states how could they also, at the same time, be born subject to the jurisdiction of the United States federal government?

    I do not think the imposition of the property tax is extortion by government but it is evidence of constructive fraud because no one is fully informed that they are not required to record their deed among many other facts that effect one’s ownership be it absolute ownership or conditional ownership.

    Oh, what tangled web we weave when we practice to deceive.

      It is extortion if you know that it is illegal, as I do not only by the Constitution but also by Missouri Law (called the Missouri Constitution).

      I also know that land that passed to private ownership is not taxable, and than no county or city or state government has standing to take it. They do not have any form of proprietary interest in the property – not legally anyway.

      But, officials do as they wish, while state created chanceries (not part of the Article III system of justice) and their enforcers – including sheriffs I found out the hard way – enforce whatever crimes the chartered corporations called “government” commit.

      America was converted while people watched into
      the very feudal system our founders fought and died to get away from.

      It is our fault.

    • In my humble opion, even if it were a fair recompense situation, we are not getting what we pay for when we pay our taxes. At the most basic level, We by paying these taxes, duties and all encumberments attached to them, continue to expect we should be protected from unreasonable search and seizure (the right to be LEFT ALONE) – in several different forms, including the removal of our own ability to defend ourselves from the predatory practices of our own governement, which has of late become something between a judicial oligarchy and a marxist dictatorship. MS. Feinsteins comments recently about our “reason why” we should be allowed to own things she does not like or think we “need” put a point on it: Our government now has assumed the right to dole out to us the resposibilty of ‘proving up’ what we ‘need’ in hopes of being ‘allowed’ to have or do what we want. In other words, we are no longer a country with a Federalist system, specifically granting FEW and VERY SPECIFIC rights to the federal folks. We are now a country of an unlimited federal resource granting few and very specific rights upon the individual.

      Until we TAKE IT BACK.

      If we ever again have cajones enough.

      Which I doubt. Most 20 somethings now have no interest in anything beyond the latest narcotic, be that their IPod, their football, their whatever drug of choice…

      • Ms. Feinstein (Dianne Feinstein, California Senator that spoke out against assault weapons after Newtown shootings) is one of the ten wealthiest Senators in the US Congress, or was last time I looked. I learned a lot looking at that list).

        Some people don’t know, but her daughter, Katherine Feinstein, has been presiding judge over the San Francisco Family Court system is retiring as we speak.

        One of the reasons K. Feinstein cites for retiring is “Budget Cuts.” This is where the Walter Burien/CAFR knowledge should kick in. In fact the courts and the AOC were rocked by multiple scandals, billion$$ software systems that didn’t work, slush funds, fighting for control over the trial courts, etc.

        Property Tax, Real Estate and Courts are absolutely connected. That “3-minute treatment” is commonplace in “public hearings” making them a joke. There was also a young(ish) woman who went to jail for 180 days for attempting to speak in a confirmation hearing for a judge (East Coast).

        I’m not putting this up here for a “rant.” I was just thinking about tax liens — when property taxes are so high, and people can’t pay, then others buy the debt and are making money at HIGH percentage to fund local government (supposedly that’s what property taxes are for). Sometimes people who buy the tax liens end up inheriting the foreclosed property. Seems to me this is how assets are getting transferred out from underneath our feet — and all around this budgetary scam.

        My resolution for 2013 includes a virtual “direct marketing” (each one teach no less than 4 who will teach others) regarding the CAFR issues, and understanding HOW it is that criminal money is invested in real estate which then elects politicians, etc.
        This won’t get out on mainstream media, obviously.

        Along with the information on jurisdiction, and then any constructive (comprehensive) solution — not stupid ones.

        Theory: If there’s one person who can think and write like RealityBloger shows up — there have to be more.

        People like you always seem to find a way to bring Obama into every problem in the USA as if it wasn’t a problem during the presidency of the previous 40+ presidents. Truth be told I didn’t vote for Obama but the fact that he is said to be the source of all the current US problems is absurd and unite frankly, I believed based in racism. NONE, of the US presidents have ever had the best interest of the people in mind and if you think they did you are absent and delusional.

  2. Only Some Natural People originally created all governments. People are Natural beings. All governments are artificial creations and as such, have no Natural authority to dictate the affairs of the Natural people. Whether there were governments or not, these “some” Natural people have no Natural authority to dictate to other Natural people the affair of their lives if they are not aggressing, threatening, or defrauding others.
    The concept of a representative government is one in which the voting public delegates their Natural individual authority to elected representatives to act in their behalf. Since no Natural individual has any natural authority (All men are created equal) to tax anyone else, he/she cannot delegate that authority to any representative and therefore he/she does not have that Natural legitimate authority. (Simple Logic based on Natural Law that trumps all other Law)
    The people in this country seems to have been dumbed down so that they have not even considered Natural Law in contrast to other law, if they even know anything about any law. As such, it is way past time to return to the concept of Natural Law for all considerations since apparently “authoritative” books such as Law Dictionaries, Statutes, regulations, etc, have been written and promulgated without considering Natural Law as their basis. As a result the deck is stacked against all but the elite in present day society. The elite make it their business to be “above the law” in their modes of operation, and to control everyone else AND to have those controlled others to pay the bills. This may be one reason that the ruling elite keeps religion active in society as people have become conditioned to accept the written word in Authoritative books as “Gospel”. And what is that about Romans 13?
    I could go on but let us return to Natural Law as our basis regardless of what the Elites might think about it!

      My best answer…

      Ownership is actually not a real, tangible thing… unless you or your perception of it lets it be, and you allow a peice of paper with a bank insignia to dictate what your reality is. It’s not something that you can touch, taste, smell, or when you think about it really hard, even comprehend.

      For instance… If you own land, how far does it go down until you are fighting a Chinaman for water and mineral rights?

      So who owns the governments? No one. Or everyone. There isn’t much difference… unless you’re not paying attention and a small group of jerks claim that right, and fools you into believing it to be true generation after generation until the ancient knowledge is but true but ridiculous myth. Government is a tool, like religion, but who can own religion besides God… or a massive corporation acting as God’s channel?

      I’m beginning to perceive that no one owns the government, and that politicians and law enforcement are like the Morlocks from The Time Machine – and we all follow the rules, or the laws, without really knowing who made them or why we actually have to do so. And we get eaten alive!

      Ok. Now I’m philosophizing

      Interesting stuff anyway. I try and concentrate on the things I can change, or at least get under the elites skin about. Provable and with a solution. That’s why I like Walter.

    Here are three interesting statutes that all officials ignore, and most people know nothing about.
    Emphasis is mine.

    18 U.S.C. sec. 8. Obligation or other security of the United States defined.
    The term “obligation or other security of the United States” includes all bonds, certificates of indebtedness, national bank currency, FEDERAL RESERVE NOTES, Federal Reserve bank notes, coupons, United States notes, Treasury notes, gold certificates, silver certificates, fractional notes, certificates of deposit, bills, checks, or drafts for money, drawn by or upon authorized officer of the United States, stamps and other representative of value, of whatever denomination, issued under any Act of Congress, and canceled United States Stamps.

    12 U.S.C. sec. 411. Issuance to reserve banks; nature of obligation; redemption.
    FEDERAL RESERVE NOTES, to be issued at the discretion of the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System for the purpose of making advances to Federal reserve banks through the Federal reserve agents as hereinafter set forth and for no other purpose, are authorized. The said notes shall be OBLIGATION OF THE UNITED STATES and shall be receivable by all national and member banks and Federal reserve banks and for all taxes, customs, and other public dues. They shall be redeemed in lawful money on demand at the Treasury Department of the United States, in the city of Washington, District of Columbia, or at any Federal Reserve bank.

    31 U.S.C sec 3124. Exemption from taxation

    (a) Stocks and obligations of the United States Government are exempt from taxation by a State or political subdivision of a State. The exemption applies to each form of taxation that would require the obligation, the interest on the obligation, or both, to be considered in computing a tax, except-
    (1) a nondiscriminatory franchise tax or another nonproperty tax instead of a franchise tax, imposed on a corporation; and (2) an estate or inheritance tax.

    Franchise – NOUN: 1. Legal immunity from servitude, certain burdens, or other restrictions. 2. A business or group of businesses established or operated under such authorization. 3. The territory or limits within which immunity, a privilege, or a right may be exercised. 4. Informal A professional sports team.

    Adding insult to injury, where I live (New Mexico), the local government has also decided that WHERE you live also factors in to how much you should pay in property taxes. So the way It works here, I pay some of the highest property taxes in the state. For that we receive the least amount of police protection. Yet curiously in those parts of the city requiring the most policing, they pay the least in property taxes. A portion of our taxes goes to a corrupt school district, even though we have no children. By the way our particular school district has a 40% drop out rate, bringing into question the ROI for money spent on education. Some of the money goes to road improvement, yet our state routinely ranks among the worst in the counrty for roads. Property taxes are state sancationed robbery, nothing more.

    Can you publish? I mean in bound form, print, paper, all that?

    This material (from your blog) in book form, supplementing the blog — would surely sell. The reason is: People’s attention in blogs is distractible, they’re impressed — but what translates into action?

    Books, even though I do know what age we are in, can be carried around in cars, personal possessions, public places, left laying around at home (or, OK, on a bookshelf) and literally are visual reminders of people when they are OFF-LINE of this information (Ask me how I know that) and moreover, it could raise money for you to travel and speak some more (if you want), or for anything else.

    Think about a computer screen — information only comes across your attention in sequential, or flipping link to link, frames, only so much per frame. It doesn’t make for good logical thinking translating into some action on that information (the Distraction Factor).

    I know the book/web/conference circuit because millions of tax$$ (public funds anyhow) are dumped into it. Half your government employees are in on this (speaking generically); they attend conferences, conferences get DVD’s, the materials are distributed. Here’s an example of a public budget, Michigan, 2008, for travel only: (I blogged the other day):

    I’m speaking as a person who reads your blog regularly — but I am not myself financially independent, I cannot afford to continue doing this, and then think about the time involved to get others to read it, discuss the material, and then act on it.

    What I’m saying is, books #1. A higher-investment for people than clicking and reading on a blog; #2. You can sell them. Judges, attorneys, mediators, psychologists, politicians (Obama’s “Dreams of My Father” much?). #3. I just think the internet is too passive an experience, but with a book, you can sit with another person OFF-line and talk about it, and then the ideas are flowing about how to act on it. LOCALLY, when people get together physically in the same place, and get serious on the stuff. Who knows what may happen? They bond around the material (trust me on this, I’m a woman!).

    Why do you think the gov’t invests all that money in airfare to conferences to listen to speakers and sell books?

    Please consider this. I’m speaking as someone who appreciates the writing and wants the information out. Not to mention, at the next opportunity to “NOT” be heard for more than 3 minutes, you’d have something to hand out, or a flyer on where to buy it, etc. (assuming they let you).

    In general, I hate that type of marketing — because everyone does it — but it’d also be good for you, too. Please consider, email me if you want more feedback.

    I also want to talk about a situation in Pennsylvania where you can see a nonprofit (it says, but I can’t see the tax return) “Economy League” with MAJOR funders is advising and reforming local governments, i.e, Pennsylvania Economy League and its 3 subsidiaries. I’m looking at this and it looks they maybe don’t merit nonprofit status.

    Yes it is extortion, without a doubt, undebatable. This was the plan for the US from inception believe it or not. I know that’s hard to hear from some if not most but they don’t care about us(the people) and never did.

    Fact #1 My house is worth what I paid for it!
    Fact #2. The arbitrary raise of the annual property taxation is nothing less than governmental extortion and must cease!
    Fact #3. I don’t give a damn what any other house/property sells for in the neighborhood or anywhere else in Salt Lake County!
    Fact #4. Base real estate taxation on the purchase price!
    Fact #5 the burden of proof for lower assessment/ tax rates should never be the onus of the property owner!
    Fact #6 any increase in property taxes should be required to be approved by the registered voters and property owners!
    Fact #7 Salt Lake County is legal organized Crime/Extortion and the government is a de-facto Gangster government and needs to be abolished!
    Fact #8 with all the incorporated Cities in the Salt Lake Valley the need for a County government is obsolete and superfluous and the time is ripe for abolishment thereof!

    We need to stop ‘Property Taxation.’

    People are beginning to understand that they can never own property as long the government is able to impose property taxes; the silent majority recognizes how vulnerable they are to property tax increases and foreclosures.

    It all started with the 1933 bankruptcy where the government declared that they owned everything, including you, that they could tax you anywhere, all the time.

    This taxation included monetizing your birth certificate and any property (houses, cars, boats, land yachts, basically anything that had a title) to put up as collateral for the banks in the bankruptcy.

    So, can you say that you “own” anything?

    The Answer is, ‘No’ you don’t own anything that has to be titled.

    You’re paying a “user fee” tax for the privilege of being allowed to use the items you paid for.

    Millions of property tax foreclosures take place every year; as long as you are forced to pay property tax you really don’t own the property.

    What is the answer to this problem?

    We need to stop ‘Property Taxation.’

    Remember gold is far more portable than a house.
